K-TEC 40-155

The trend toward highly productive injection-molding technologies with multiple cavities is growing all the time.  K-TEC machines do not require extensive retrofitting for turntable and stack molds because they were designed to perform these tasks in the first place.

Clamping Unit

The clamping units in the K-TEC series use a three-platen assembly with a central ejector. Another plus is the large mold space with tie bar clearances (from 320 x 320 to 560 x 560 mm) and the support columns (hardened and surface finished) which are easily changed as required. Two separate traverse cylinders allow for easy opening and closing of the clamping unit. Pressure bolts connect the moveable plate with the clamping piston so that the clamping force is optimally positioned in the center. Additionally, the adjustable length of the pressure bolts allows for variable mold installation height.

Injection Unit

The K-TEC 40 through K-TEC 155 injection units use two parallel injection cyclinders. The hydraulic motor is located between them allowing for direct drive to the screws. This makes for a remarkably compact mechanism and a very short machine. Space-saving design is another advantage for facilities doing injection molding. Smooth functioning is ensured by a linear bearings support system. High shot volume and high injection pressure make these machines ideal for a wide range of industry applications.

The whole injection unit assembly swivels out allowing easy access to the screw and simplifying maintenance. The screw barrel can be replaced within minutes.

A consistent modular assembly philosophy offers manufacturers many advantages and the construction of the assembly unit provides an example. Aside from standard and mixing screws, barrier screws are also available for high performance applications in special lengths up to 25: 1L/D. The use of electric screw drives is becoming increasingly common.

Drive

Accumulator or Pump? The application determines which hydraulic drive system is most suitable. The greater the performance and dynamic range requirements of a particular task, the more sense it makes to go with a high volume accumulator. The hydraulic accumulators on the S-version allow for a wide range of parallel movements. In terms of economy, this makes the S-Version’s guaranteed short cycle times particularly important. Accumulator charging pumps and pressure intensifiers are available to facilitate even faster injection molding.

MOSAIC Controls

The intuitive and ergonomic MOSAIC control panel was developed to provide support for all operating tasks from the simplest production routines to the most complex machine setups and optimization. A Wizard guides the operator step-by-step through the setup and programming modes. The controls use advanced networking technologies for fast and reliable communications with the machine. All processes and functions are represented graphically in the user interface, simplifying optimization. MOSAIC offers:

  • Intuitive controls via large 15” touch screen terminal mounted on an adjustable swing arm for stress-free operations and natural movement
  • Graphic menu controls
  • Every page just one or two clicks away
  • Online help for parameter optimization
  • On-screen function buttons
  • Freely editable mold sequence
  • Detailed process monitoring with tolerances, minimum and maximum values, average, and standard deviation
  • Real-time graphical representation of molding process and production cycle controls
