By increasing the use of plastic parts, the auto industry has already achieved impressive reductions in vehicle weight and fuel consumption. Now manufacturers are turning their attention to the auto body and under-hood parts. Total vehicle weight can be further reduced by injection molding thin-walled body panels with a blend of PC/PBT. This will lower manufacturing costs by reducing the numbers of parts required and shortening assembly time. As consumers, we are all pleased when fuel consumption can be cut down, not to mention the new possibilities for auto body design which this technology opens up.
